The Total Women: Mind Body and Spirit – A healthy weight loss competition. Members of the Portsmouth Alumnae Chapter support “Lose to Win” through good, nutrition, exercise rest and less stress! This sisterly competition allows participants to develop plans to lose weight, while encouraging healthy eating habits, balanced cardio and strength exercise in an informative and safe environment. The biggest loser wins!
St. Jude Walk - Team Red Supreme strikes again in our efforts to help raise funds to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In 2014, the chapter raised over $5,000.00 and was recognized as a top fundraiser for the Hampton Roads Area event! Relay for Life - Since 2003, Team Red Supreme has been an active and awarding winning team and partner for the annual Portsmouth Relay for Life event. Each year, we join with hundreds of other organizations to celebrate the survivors, remember those we’ve lost and to raise vital funds to help beat cancer. Team Red Supreme has won the Gold, Platinum Awards in most funds raised and Team Spirit and Participation Awards! Since 2003, our chapter has raised over $20,000.00 for this noteworthy event! Go Red Campaign - Heart Disease is considered to the No. 1 killer of women and is more deadly than all forms of cancer. The Portsmouth Alumnae Chapter makes a point to educate our members and women throughout the community on the importance of maintaining a healthy heart. Through our annual Go Red Campaign, the chapter educates on how to live a heart-healthy life, advocates for access to quality health care and promotes legislative actions for more research and programs to address heart disease. Community Health Fair - In partnership with our local churches and other health care organizations, the Portsmouth Alumnae Chapter proudly hosts an annual community health fair to address the gaps that exists in our health care system providing assistance to those who are in need of health care services and resources. Each health fair promotes opportunities to present information and literature about nutrition, fitness, prevention and health care to our communities.
